For Heaven's Sake (1950) is a charming American fantasy comedy directed by George Seaton, featuring Clifton Webb as an angel sent to Earth to help a busy theatrical couple become parents. The film is based on the 1949 play May We Come In? by Harry Segall and Dorothy Segall. It was produced by William Perlberg and distributed by 20th Century-Fox. 🎭 Plot Summary: 

Angels Charles (Clifton Webb) and Arthur (Edmund Gwenn) are tasked with convincing a young cherub named Item (Gigi Perreau) to stop waiting to be born to Lydia (Joan Bennett) and Jeff Bolton (Robert Cummings). The Boltons, a successful Broadway couple, are too engrossed in their careers to start a family. Charles takes human form as "Slim" Charles, a wealthy Montanan, and attempts to influence the couple's relationship by posing as a potential investor for Jeff's next play. Despite his efforts, the Boltons decide to separate. However, when Lydia develops a sudden craving for peanuts, Jeff realizes she is pregnant with Item, leading to their reconciliation.

Filming took place at 20th Century Fox Studios in Los Angeles from June to August 1950 . The film was promoted with the tagline "Belvedere's Back!" to capitalize on Clifton Webb's previous successes in Sitting Pretty and Mr. Belvedere Goes to College .

Critics had mixed reviews. Bosley Crowther of The New York Times described the film as "far on the sticky side," noting that it may appeal to those with a sentimental disposition . On the other hand, some audience members found it to be a "completely charming" comedy, highlighting Webb and Gwenn's performances as delightful.
