Canadian rapper Tory Lanez’s attorney provided what he claimed was new evidence during a press conference in Los Angeles Wednesday, suggesting Lanez never pulled the trigger on the night fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion — whose real name is Megan Pete — was shot outside a Hollywood party.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet. Lanez’s lead attorney, Walter Roberts, said Wednesday that the bodyguard and driver of Megan Thee Stallion had come forward to the legal team.
The witness, Roberts said, was part of a conversation with Kelsey Harris who said, “She had the gun. She fired it three times. Mr. Peterson grabbed her arm and knocked it down, and the gun fired two more times. In essence, Mr. Peterson never shot anybody, never even touched that gun, never fired the gun."
Lanez survived an attack on Monday at a California prison where he was stabbed 14 times.
